CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (March 24, 2026) — The Charlotte County Community Action Agency Advisory Board, an advisory board to the Charlotte County Commission, is seeking nominations for two representatives from the low-income community to serve on the board.
At its next scheduled meeting on April 23, 2026, nominations will be accepted from county residents in attendance, and the candidate will be selected by secret ballot submitted by attendees at that meeting. Eligible candidates must be a resident of Charlotte County, preferably from one of the following zip codes: 34223; 33950; 33980; 33953; or 33952. Nominees must agree to commit to attending a minimum of four meetings per year (quarterly). Nominees do not have to be low-income themselves, however, must have an expressed interest in serving on behalf of low-income residents.
This election process is required by the Community Services Block Grant Act as a measure to ensure that one-third of the tri-partite board be a direct representative of the low-income community served through community action programs. The public is encouraged to attend. The meeting will be held at 1 p.m. at the Family Services Center, Boys and Girls Club, 21500 Gibralter Drive, Building B, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
