Charlotte County Transit is a shared ride curb-to-curb transit service provided to the public throughout Charlotte County. The service area consists of most of Charlotte County and includes the Charlotte County portion of Englewood, Port Charlotte, and Punta Gorda.
Charlotte County Transit operates Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Charlotte County Transit is closed on Sundays and all National and County recognized holidays.
- Four (4) no-shows in six (6) months will result in a thirty (30) day suspension.
- Each additional no-show after initial 30-day suspension will result in an additional 30-day suspension.
- Falsifying one’s identity during a no-show suspension will result in permanent suspension.
- Reservation line – Calling the reservation line for any reason is prohibited while on suspension.
- Reservations - No trips shall be booked during suspension, even trips that occur after suspension period.
- Charlotte Rides Mobile app – Mobile app access will be suspended, and no trips shall be booked.
- First Warning: After the first missed trip, the passenger will receive a notice via USPS containing the missed trip date.
- Second Warning: After the second missed trip, the passenger will receive a yellow notice via USPS containing the missed trip dates.
- Final Warning: After the third missed trip, the passenger will receive a final red notice via USPS containing the missed trip dates.
- Suspension Letter: Suspension letter will be mailed via USPS Certified Mail to the passenger containing missed trip dates and dates of suspension from service.
Missed Trips Beyond a Passenger's Control: is when a trip is missed for reasons beyond the passengers control. These include events such as a sudden illness, a family or personal emergency, an appointment delay, or another unforeseen reason where it is not possible to call Charlotte County Transit to cancel the trip in time or to take the trip when the driver arrives as scheduled, passengers should still make every effort to cancel scheduled trips in a timely manner. It is the passenger's responsibility to provide Charlotte County Transit the reason for not canceling a trip as soon as possible. Missed trips beyond a passenger's control will not be considered missed trips. If a missed trip is due to a passenger receiving life-sustaining treatment, such as kidney dialysis, Charlotte County Transit will not consider the trip a missed trip.

Scheduling in advance may give you multiple options for services, although some same day trips may be scheduled based on availability.
Anyone 13 years & over can ride on Charlotte County Transit. Children under 13 are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult.

You are required to cancel your reservation at least 1 hour in advance of the scheduled pick-up window. You can cancel your reservation using the following methods:
- By using the Charlotte Rides Mobile app
- By contacting Charlotte County Transit at 941.575.4000 Option 2.
If you do not cancel the reservation at least 1 hour in advance of a scheduled pick up window, it will be recorded as a “late cancellation”.
The cancellation line is open at 5:30 a.m. M-F and 8 a.m. on Saturday's.
When making your trip reservation, the dispatcher will provide you with a 30-minute pickup window based upon your requested destination arrival time. Drivers will wait three minutes after they arrive before recording the passenger as a no-show. You can also request to receive a notification call of your reservation the night before your scheduled trip. Charlotte County Transit takes subscriptions for passengers who work a regular schedule or passengers who go to the same location on a regular basis. The passenger's only responsibility after making a subscription with Transit is to call to cancel any scheduled trips, they are not going to take at least 1 hour in advance. This will not interrupt a subscription.
Yes, Buses are fully accessible. Bus ramps make it easy to board in a wheelchair, scooter, or walker.
Individuals, who are physically or otherwise disabled, 60 years of age or older, or qualify as low income, may be eligible for the Transportation Disadvantaged program service. Transportation Disadvantaged applications can be downloaded from our website at https://www.charlottecountyfl.gov/transit/ or you can call 941.833.6233 to request an application be mailed to you.
