FHWA

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) process is the final approval needed before a federally funded transportation project can move forward. FHWA reviews the project to confirm it meets federal requirements and is eligible for reimbursement. Once authorization is issued, the project can proceed and costs become eligible for federal funding. Until then, work is limited to avoid jeopardizing reimbursement.
